July 10 Update: Dr. Pet Mom’s New Book! πŸ“š

Summer is here and July feels like a time for new beginnings. And speaking of beginnings, this week’s book update is a short one.

I recently invited a gifted animal photographer and animal lover, to contribute to my book, Dr. Pet Mom’s Pet Parenting Guide: How to Enjoy the Love and Friendship of Senior and Special Needs Pets. And I’m happy to announce that Lori F. graciously agreed to write the foreword for my book!

Foreword

What exactly is a foreword in a book? It’s best described as the opposite of the afterword in a book. The foreword and afterword are like the windows that open (foreword) and close (afterword) a book.

A foreword is a personal introduction written for the readers. And the foreword is written by someone other than the author.

This third party can tell a story about how the book changed their life in some way. Or talk about their relationship to the author and describe the highlights of the specific book.

Afterword

And it will by my job, as Dr. Pet Mom, to write the afterword.

The afterword tells a story about how the book was developed or created. A book with a foreword and afterword is uncommon.

But the afterword of a self-published book is special: The afterword tells a unique story behind the book.

Introduction

Now, you may be wondering about the difference between the afterword and the introduction.

The introduction is mostly about the content of the book: What the reader will learn, why it’s important for them, or other information to help the reader fully appreciate the book.

The introduction is about why this book, what and how it can help readers, and why and what readers can learn if they keep reading the book. The introduction explains the purpose and goal of a book.

For a self-published writer like myself, I can tell a my personal story. It’s been said that everyone has a story to tell, and my story needs to be heard.

I emphasize the word “need” as my obligation to senior and special needs animals. My goal for this book, is to inspire people to adopt these wonderful pets – they all deserve a furrever home!

So that’s my update for the week. I’m adding more revisions (editing, proofreading, indexing) to my summer writing projects.

If you believe you have a story, tell the world. Write it. You will never know unless you write it.

Besides, life is an adventure to be enjoyed.

Thanks for stopping by!
