True confession: I’m a troglodyte and don’t own a smartphone. If you are like me, you need a way to post media on Instagram without a phone.
When you log into Instagram on a desktop or laptop computer using a web browser, there is no option to upload photos or videos. But I figured out a work around…
I’m sharing my solution to posting media on Instagram using a Windows desktop. You can try this on a Mac, albeit I have not done so myself.

- Log into Instagram using the Chrome browser. If you don’t have it installed on your computer, download here.
- Hit the F12 key.
- Hit Ctrl + Shift + M keys. The view on the left should narrow into simulated smart phone mode.
- Hit Ctrl R to refresh. The view on the left should now show a + symbol at the bottom of the page.
- Hit the + symbol to upload your image.
Try it. At first, my work around might seem a little confusing. But you will quickly get the hang of it. π
