Thank you Brother Sewing Machines for your kind donation of a brand new sewing machine!
Dr. Pet Mom asked me to do a write up about our exciting news. She is too busy with her brand-spanking new sewing machine! 😎
Last month, Dr. Pet Mom started another kennel quilt project for an animal rescue group in Minnesota. The Midwest Animal Rescue & Services group (MARS) took in over 47 dogs from a hoarding situation.
Animals were in need of kennel quilts and Dr.Pet Mom pitched in to help. She set a goal of 10-12 small kennel quilts for each rescue group she can help.
And the funny thing is, just as she finished the final stitches for the last quilt to send to MARS, her sewing machine croaked. She heard that heavy, clunky sound when you know something just fell apart.
Dr. Pet Mom’s 20+ year-old sewing machine stopped working. She thought about the delay in making the kennel quilts for the poor animals. Time for a new machine – but she wondered how to buy a new one since money was a bit tight.
As Dr. Pet Mom’s Chief Social Media guru, I came up with the idea of a social media campaign for a new sewing machine.
I sent a donation request to the three big sewing machine makers. I described the type of machine needed for Dr. Pet Mom’s quilting projects for the shelter animals. Then we left it to the Creator to provide a solution.
After a few weeks of silence, we received a nibble from Brother Sewing Machines. The kind message from Brother said “…we would like to send you the Brother XR9550PRW Sewing Machine.”
What a thrill and we’re so happy to be in quilting mode again! Dr. Pet Mom’s new machine arrived last weekend and it works like a charm!
MARS Chief Executive Director, Susan Bates sent Dr. Pet Mom a wonderful thank you letter for the quilts. Dr. Pet Mom was surprised and so happy that we decided to start our website and social media effort to give back to our pet companions.
Our true heroes are the animals and the people who care for them.
Once again, thanks to Brother Sewing Machines for their kind donation!
