Delightful Pet Menagerie Newsletter – May Edition 🗞️

Greetings! Welcome to the May edition of Dr. Pet Mom’s Delightful Pet Menagerie (DPM) Newsletter. This month, I’m sharing a different story about animals. I have lots of ideas for DPM – one of my dreams is to create an animal sanctuary. Time to think about the process and I’m excited to begin the journey. Sharing my thoughts with you and the universe will make it happen. Enjoy!

National Therapy Animal Day: Interview with Denise Cochran of North Star Therapy Animals 🐶

April 30 is National Therapy Animal Day, a day to recognize the amazing work of therapy animals. And promote public education about the role of therapy animals in the well-being of humans and other animals. We also honor the thousands of compassionate handlers who volunteer their time. Together, these dedicated teams bring sunshine into the lives of people in their communities.

February Pet Awareness Days 🗓️

February is a month right in the heart of winter. This month we’re celebrating how to train your dog, dental health for pets, and responsible pet ownership.

February is generally the month for the Westminster Kennel Club Annual Dog Show. In 2024, the show moved to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. The event runs from May 11 and 14.

Another cool thing about the annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is that each breed has an associated rescue group. Be there in person if you can, but the event will also be televised.

Volunteering For Pets 🐱 🦜 🐶

In a few weeks, it will be time to change the clocks again. Changing the time reminds me that the holiday season is right around the corner! It’s only October. But if you love shopping, you can find Black Friday and shop early for Christmas gifts in the stores this month.

I’m also thinking of other ways to make the holidays meaningful for my animal friends and pet parent community.

Halloween Pet Safety 🎃

Halloween can be a fun time of the year! Pet parents love to dress up their furry friends in costumes of all kinds.

Your pets may want to wear outfits, but pet parents should be aware of some Halloween hazards…

Employee Benefit: Pet Adoption 🐱 🐶

Now that we’re back in the office, I still miss the office therapy dog, Rosie. It was fun to to visit our rescue dog, Rosie, a four-year-old Golden Retriever. Petting time with Rosie was the highlight of my day. We have virtual visits these days…it’s just not the same. But one company believes in the well being of its employees and offers an employee benefit for pet adoption!

Pets For Life in Pet Service Deserts 🐱 🐶 🐇 🦜

Have you ever heard of a pet service desert? It’s a community where services for pets are not available or affordable. Families in pet service deserts live in low-income areas. But the Humane Society of the US (HSUS) Pets For Life (PFL) program is working to close the gap in pet wellness services.

Throughout the holiday season, be happy and thankful for your daily abundance and send best wishes to those in need.
