Senior and Special Needs Pet Tips ♿️

I stopped to pet some on my favorite doggy friends, Stanley and Grace. Stanley is a tiny special needs Chihuahua and Grace is his seven-year-old Chihuahua sibling. When I see them in town, I always talk to there pet dad – he’s happy when I stop to pet his little pals.

Grace and Stanley remind me of Dr. Pet Mom’s mission: To create a pet parent community to encourage adoptions of rescue and shelter animals. Adoption includes helping senior and special needs pets find their forever homes.

Holiday Heroes Interviews: Whispering Willows Senior Dog Sanctuary 🐢

Merry Christmas to all! I’m happy to share a project that has come full circle. And just in time for the holidays! You may recall my Quilting For Rescue Pets blog about my small kennel quilts to fit pet carriers for cats and small dogs.

Again this year, I sent quilts to several animal rescue groups that save the lives of pets in disaster areas. To celebrate the holidays, I decided to conduct interviews with some of the rescue groups.

This week, I’m re-posting on of my fave interviews about a wonderful animal rescue group. These special people give so much to help homeless and loving animals.

Celebrating Adopt A Senior Pet Month in November πŸ₯³

The holiday season is a time of celebration. I’m happy to celebrate Adopt A Senior Pet Month in November to help senior pets find their new families.

“To create a pet parent community to encourage adoption of rescue and shelter animals. We want to help pets find their forever homes.”

My mission statement keeps me focused on helping animals. Many shelter and rescue animals are senior pets all looking for a furrever home.

Delightful Pet Menagerie Newsletter – September Edition πŸ—žοΈ

Greetings! Welcome to the September edition of Dr. Pet Mom’s Delightful Pet Menagerie (DPM) Newsletter. This month, I’m reminded about why I created this blog: to encourage people to adopt rescue and shelter animals.

My kitty Oscar who passed away last year, was adopted from a rescue. My latest family member, Mingus, was a feral cat, adopted from a shelter. Homeless animals may have special needs, like senior pets or hard to adopt pets, like a feral cat or dog. Let’s celebrate the joy and happiness of special needs pets. Learn all about them and enjoy!

September is a good month for cooler weather and promoting animal awareness events. September awareness events encourage pet adoptions for less-popular animals.

Supporters can use creative social media to help special needs pets gain attention. The month ends with a day to remember homeless animals around the world.

10 Cat Parenting Tips: Quality of Life 🐱

Cats like their alone time. And they like to be social. Cats don’t like to be bored. Let’s face it, people still think cats are mysterious, aloof and not affectionate. People also think living with a cat is easier than living with a dog…

But cat pet parents know differently. Your cat will let you know when (and if) she wants to play, socialize or just wants her alone time. It’s about the quality of life you share with your kitty.

Why I Volunteer for Cats in Need 😿

This week, I leaped back into the world of volunteering. I’m working with a local animal rescue group, Bay State Animal Cooperative (BSAC) in the greater Boston area.

Springtime is their busy kitten season. Kittens are in demand right now, and BSAC needs some extra hands to help process adoption applications. I volunteered for a training session on processing adoption applications.
