Pets For Life in Pet Service Deserts 🐱 🐶 🐇 🦜

Have you ever heard of a pet service desert? It’s a community where services for pets are not available or affordable. Families in pet service deserts live in low-income areas. But the Humane Society of the US (HSUS) Pets For Life (PFL) program is working to close the gap in pet wellness services.

The month of November feels like the true holiday season has arrived! This month, we celebrate National Senior Pet Month and the ASPCA’s Adopt a Senior Pet Month. Senior pets are as gentle, loving, and loyal as any younger pet.

In celebration of all senior pets, I’m happy to share my interview with Founder and Director, Doreen Jakubcak. Out of love for Marty, a rescue dog who forever changed her life, Doreen created a wonderful and loving home for senior pets called Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary.

The holiday season is a time of celebration. I’m happy to celebrate Adopt A Senior Pet Month in November to help senior pets find their new families.

“To create a pet parent community to encourage adoption of rescue and shelter animals. We want to help pets find their forever homes.”

My mission statement keeps me focused on helping animals. Many shelter and rescue animals are senior pets all looking for a furrever home.

School can be fun, but stress is a way of life for most college and university students. Long days of classes and studying can challenge your well being. But time spent with a furry friend can turn a frown upside down. And smiles and joy will do wonders for our mental health!

Dogs love the great outdoors! Pet parents and their furry pets can now enjoy the outdoors safely together. Try a doggy campground designed for canines and their human caregivers.

You won’t find a description of a doggy campground in Wikipedia, but these safe doggy spaces are popping up around the country.

Volunteering For Pets 🐱 🦜 🐶

In a few weeks, it will be time to change the clocks again. Changing the time reminds me that the holiday season is right around the corner! It’s only October. But if you love shopping, you can find Black Friday and shop -early-for-Christmas sales in the stores this month.

I’m also thinking of other ways to make the holidays meaningful for my animal friends and pet parent community.

October feels like the start of the holiday season. The cool weather reminds us that fall is here. It’s not quite Autumn, the start of the seasonal change from summer to winter. October is also a great month for celebrating family pets and animals everywhere!

Professional photographer and owner of Fusaro Photography, Lori Fusaro, is a longtime advocate for homeless animals. Her motto: “No dog should die alone.” Lori also volunteers her time at overcrowded animal shelters in the Los Angeles area. Her photographs of older cats and dogs improve their chances of adoption. Older pets give us their unconditional love and the lasting gift of joyful memories.

Her clients include many animal rescue organizations such as BAD RAP, Guide Dogs for the Blind, K9 Connection, and Angel City Pit Bulls. Lori lives in California with her husband, Darrell, their two rescue dogs, Gabby and Mr. French, and their two cats, Francis and Enzo.
