Microchipping Can Save Your Pet’s Life π»
My daily walks take me through a maze of different neighborhoods, including mansions, low-income and middle income homes. But I noticed some strange things in my neighborhood: An uptick in posters of missing pets.
It’s strange because I rarely see these posters. I noticed a poster for an orange cat named Paws, missing for a few weeks. Paws’ poster is stapled to many telephone poles around town

February is a month right in the heart of winter. This month we’re celebrating how to train your dog, dental health for pets, and responsible pet ownership.
February is generally the month for the Westminster Kennel Club Annual Dog Show. In 2024, the show moved to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. The event runs from May 11 and 14.
Another cool thing about the annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is that each breed has an associated rescue group. Be there in person if you can, but the event will also be televised.

As any cat parent knows, cats can be stubborn. Cats generally have five types of personalities.
Cats can be dominant and take over resources like toys or food. They can also be insecure, shy or skittish. Other cats are social butterflies and easy going. Some cats are spontaneous and respond differently in any situation. Finally, cats can be curious or nosy.
Whatever type of personality, your cat communicates in her own way. She sends a message when she leaves you a clue outside the litter box.

Do you know what will happen to your pet if something happens to you? Do you ever wonder if your pet will outlive you? Do you have a pet trust? Do you have a will? If you’re like most pet parents, these questions are not on your radar. But they should be…
Why? Because over 500,000 pets are abandoned each year due to the death or disability of their human companions.

This week, I stopped to pet some on my favorite doggy friends, Stanley and Grace. Stanley is a tiny special needs Chihuahua and Grace is his seven-year-old Chihuahua sibling. When I see them in town, I always talk to there pet dad β he’s happy when I stop to pet his little pals.
Grace and Stanley remind me of Dr. Pet Mom’s mission: To create a pet parent community to encourage adoption of rescue and shelter animals. Adoption includes helping senior and special needs pets find their forever homes.

Happy holidays to all! Iβm happy to share a project that has come full circle. And just in time for the holidays! You may recall my Quilting For Rescue Pets blog about my small kennel quilts to fit pet carriers for cats and small dogs.
This year, I sent quilts to several animal rescue groups that save the lives of pets in disaster areas. To celebrate the holidays, I decided to conduct interviews with some of the rescue groups.
This week is my final Holiday Heroes Interview about these wonderful animal rescue groups. Staff and volunteers give so much to help homeless animals.
