Why I Volunteer for Cats in Need 😿

I’m working with a local animal rescue group, Bay State Animal Cooperative (BSAC) in the greater Boston area.

Springtime is their busy kitten season. Kittens are in demand right now, and BSAC needs some extra hands to help process adoption applications. I volunteered for a training session on processing adoption applications.

March Pet Awareness Days 🗓️

March is here and spring is in the air! We’re moving into Daylight Saving Time, looking forward to longer sunny days, and spending time with our furry family members outside.

All month long learn how to keep your pets safe from poison around the house, and celebrate a very special day, K-9 Veterans Day on March 13.

February Pet Awareness Days 🗓️

February is a month right in the heart of winter. This month we’re celebrating how to train your dog, dental health for pets, and responsible pet ownership.

February is generally the month for the Westminster Kennel Club Annual Dog Show. In 2024, the show moved to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. The event runs from May 11 and 14.

Another cool thing about the annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is that each breed has an associated rescue group. Be there in person if you can, but the event will also be televised.

January Pet Awareness Days 🗓️

Welcome to 2023! January is a time for fresh starts and new beginnings. It’s a month to walk your dog, change a pet’s life and rescue a bird.

All month long you can train your pet and celebrate a special anniversary for Seeing Eye Guide Dogs on January 29.

Tax Breaks For Pet Parents 💰

In our evolving world of pet adoption and fostering, more people are embracing pet parenting to ease their anxiety. Pets bring love, joy, laughter, and companionship to our lives. But pets also have tax benefits. Yes, the IRS allows tax deductions for specific cases.

Volunteering For Pets 🐱 🦜 🐶

In a few weeks, it will be time to change the clocks again. Changing the time reminds me that the holiday season is right around the corner! It’s only October. But if you love shopping, you can find Black Friday and shop early for Christmas gifts in the stores this month.

I’m also thinking of other ways to make the holidays meaningful for my animal friends and pet parent community.

Employee Benefit: Pet Adoption 🐱 🐶

Now that we’re back in the office, I still miss the office therapy dog, Rosie. It was fun to to visit our rescue dog, Rosie, a four-year-old Golden Retriever. Petting time with Rosie was the highlight of my day. We have virtual visits these days…it’s just not the same. But one company believes in the well being of its employees and offers an employee benefit for pet adoption!

September is a good month for cooler weather and promoting animal awareness events. September awareness events encourage pet adoptions for less-popular animals.

Supporters can use creative social media to help special needs pets gain attention. The month ends with a day to remember homeless animals around the world.

August is a big month for cats and dogs everywhere. Assistance Dog Week, International Cat Day and National Dog Day are some examples.
