Happy holidays to all! I’m happy to share a project that has come full circle. And just in time for the holidays! You may recall my Quilting For Rescue Pets blog about my small kennel quilts to fit pet carriers for cats and small dogs.

This year, I sent quilts to several animal rescue groups that save the lives of pets in disaster areas. To celebrate the holidays, I decided to conduct interviews with some of the rescue groups.

This week is my final Holiday Heroes Interview about these wonderful animal rescue groups. Staff and volunteers give so much to help homeless animals.

Holiday Gifting for Rescue Animals 🎁

This year, Dr. Pet Mom re-discovered the joy of quilting! She started making quilts for animal rescues and shelters.

Dr. Pet Mom was hooked since the shout out to help local shelters impacted by natural disasters – flooding, hurricanes, forest fires, winter storms, mudslides, and tornadoes.

Christmas time is near and she is gifting more quilts to help homeless cats and dogs.

Pets For Life in Pet Service Deserts 🐱 🐶 🐇 🦜

Have you ever heard of a pet service desert? It’s a community where services for pets are not available or affordable. Families in pet service deserts live in low-income areas. But the Humane Society of the US (HSUS) Pets For Life (PFL) program is working to close the gap in pet wellness services.

Poverty creates barriers in access to health care, quality food and veterinary care. One source noted and that the “extreme lack of access to pet resources is a national crisis” that is often ignored.

Writing For Pets: How Am I Doing? 🤔

Animals are Mother Nature’s gift to the world. Animals bring us joy, make us laugh, cry, and feel human. They help us survive – giving is in their DNA.

For many reasons, I’m happy to discover my alter ego, Dr. Pet Mom. Behind the scenes, I’m reticent about my life. But when it comes to animals, I come out of the shadows.

My face lights up with an easy smile. It’s my natural reaction to animals. Coming out of the shadows also means writing a book to help animals. So how am I doing?

How To Change Bad Habits To Good Ones ☯

We all have our inner demons to contend with. Slowly and deliberately, I am working through mine. The latest demon was my bad eating habits.

I’ve been exercising plenty but not shedding any pounds. I knew it was because of my habit of late night snacking.

So I needed to drop the late night snacking. When I stopped, the pounds started coming off.

Why I Love My Cat, Oscar 😊

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I am open about my anxiety and depression. This week my spouse Dr. Pet Mom, is away in ‘Frostbite Falls’ Minnesota doing some academic stuff.

Enter my cat, Oscar! He’s been great! He is very empathetic, knows when to purr and sit by my side. Thanks Oscar!
