You might remember that I’m a virtual volunteer for the TQPM Small Kennel Quilt Team. Since I started making quilts last summer, I’ve donated over 170 quilts to animal rescues and shelters around the country.

And this year, at the end of August into early September, I stepped away from editing my book, Dr. Pet Mom’s Pet Parenting Guide: How to Enjoy the Love and Friendship of Senior and Special Needs Pets. I took time out to work on another project close to my heart: making quilts for homeless animals.

Pets and Companion Animals: Safety and COVID-19 ⚠️

Spring is here and all around the planet, we are living through troubling times. Each day, we learn more and more about COVID-19. This virus has turned the world upside down.

Sadly, the impact on pets is very distressing: People are abandoning their pets. People are fearful and confused by stories that claim COVID-19 is transmitted from our pets.

PLEASE DON’T BELIEVE THE MYTH THAT PETS ARE CONTAGIONS OF THIS VIRUS! Pets are not the problem. COVID-19 is spread only through human-to-human contact.

Dr. Pet Mom Celebrates Year One! 🥳

Leap year is a special year for anyone born on February 29. Dr. Pet Mom is also celebrating a special day in the last week of February. February 24 marks the first anniversary of Dr. Pet Mom!!!

First of all, a big THANK YOU! to all my Dr. Pet Mom followers on social media. Every pet parent deserves recognition for helping a pet. Anything we can do to help animals is a good thing. And thanks to you, our pet parent community is growing.

It feels great to celebrate and build on our six-month milestones.

Holiday Heroes Interviews: Bark And Roll Rescue Companions 🐶

Happy holidays to everyone! I’m happy to share a project that has come full circle. And just in time for the holidays! You may recall my Quilting For Rescue Pets blog about my small kennel quilts to fit pet carriers for cats and small dogs.

This year, I sent quilts to several animal rescue groups that save the lives of pets in disaster areas. To celebrate the holidays, I decided to conduct interviews with some of the rescue groups.

August is winding down and we’ll soon be into the fall season. A time for transition is in the air. Looking back, it’s been six months since the launch of our Dr. Pet Mom website.

Six months. Time to look at where we are today, new projects and future plans for Dr. Pet Mom.
