Good News: Dog Sitting is an Essential Service! πŸ₯³

As we slowly emerge from shut down mode, people continue to help heroes everywhere. Early on, dog sitting and doggy daycare services were considered nonessential.

But the shut down ignored one very critical pet parent community: Healthcare workers. Hospital support staff, nurses and doctors can’t work from home. And their pets still need care, feeding, exercise and TLC.

Interview: Project K-9 Hero Founder, Jason Johnson πŸŽ–οΈ

Sending our thoughts and prayers to end the spread of the coronavirus...

I’m happy to share my interview with Jason Johnson, Founder and CEO of the nonprofit, Project K-9 Hero Foundation. This wonderful organization helps retired military working dogs.

Johnson explained that Project K-9 Hero was formed in March of 2016, to assist retired Police K-9 and Military Working Dog Heroes with medical care, food, and death benefit assistance.

National Arbor Day and Remembering Wangari Maathai πŸ₯³

Note: Today is National Arbor Day, a celebration of the role of trees in our lives and promoting tree planting and care. I’m reposting my 2019 blog about Dr. Wangari Maathai, Founder of the Green Belt Movement.

In 2007, the late Dr. Maathai launched the Billion Tree Campaign. To date, 193 countries planted 15 billion trees. Plant for the Planet honors Dr. Maathai’s achievements by taking the campaign to the next level with the Trillion Tree Campaign. Plant a tree for National Arbor Day!

March is Women’s History Month and March 3 is Wangari Maathai Day. In celebration of women everywhere, here’s my post about one of my heroines, Wangari Maathai.

Prevent Animal Cruelty and Keep Pets Safe at Easter 🐰 πŸ₯š

April is a good time to celebrate our pet friends. Spring is finally here! If you’ve been indoors too long, it’s time to get outside. Enjoy a long walk with your favorite pet and shake off the winter doldrums.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) offers a few ideas to prevent animal cruelty, encourage pet adoption, and help rescue horses.

Spring is here and all around the planet, we are living through troubling times. Each day, we learn more and more about COVID-19. This virus has turned the world upside down.

Sadly, the impact on pets is very distressing: People are abandoning their pets. People are fearful and confused by stories that claim COVID-19 is transmitted from our pets.

PLEASE DON’T BELIEVE THE MYTH THAT PETS ARE CONTAGIONS OF THIS VIRUS! Pets are not the problem. COVID-19 is spread only through human-to-human contact.
