Fall is in the air! Schools are opening and families are getting ready for the holiday season. Fall is a wonderful time of year, but pet parents should be aware of the hidden hazards that come with cooler weather.

You might remember that I’m a virtual volunteer for the TQPM Small Kennel Quilt Team. Since I started making quilts last summer, I’ve donated over 170 quilts to animal rescues and shelters around the country.

And this year, at the end of August into early September, I stepped away from editing my book, Dr. Pet Mom’s Pet Parenting Guide: How to Enjoy the Love and Friendship of Senior and Special Needs Pets. I took time out to work on another project close to my heart: making quilts for homeless animals.

Summer is outdoor time for people and pets. Cats enjoy playtime outdoors. Cats enjoy playtime indoors, too.

If you let your kitties out for some fun in the sun, be aware of those summer dangers: Bug bites, UV exposure and parasites. And remember to leash train your cat for a walk outdoors.
