Pet Adoptions: Kittens, Special Needs and Senior Cats Too! 🐱

The month of August seems to be a peak season for kittens. Weather permitting, kitten season can run from spring into winter. I volunteer for a local animal rescue, Bay State Animal Cooperative (BSAC). Since late July, I’ve processed adoption applications mostly for kittens. But I’m excited to share that more people are also looking for senior cats or special needs cats!

Fat Cat Awareness Month 🗓️

August is the month for back to school activities for the kids and vet visits for your kitty.

This month celebrates special days for cat appreciation. I’ll add another special event to the list: Fat Cat Awareness Month.

PAWS Act (Puppies Assisting Wounded Servicemembers): Help for America’s Veterans 🎖️

America’s veterans deserve all the best services we can give them. Many veterans served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Gulf War or the Vietnam War. But between 11% and 30% veterans (more women than men) suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Long Overdue: Emergency Care For K-9 Officers (Police Dogs) 🚔

Did you know that in many states, it’s against the law to give oxygen to a dog rescued in a house fire? Many fire fighters save them anyway. These kinds of outdated laws are changing and police dogs or K-9 officers are getting the emergency care they deserve.
