Hello! Welcome to the first edition of my latest project, Dr. Pet Mom’s Delightful Pet Menagerie (DPM) Newsletter. Springtime is a transition time as we leave the doldrums of winter, and spring forward into daylight savings time. Springtime is also a great time to create new projects.

In 2020, I interviewed several people who dedicate their lives to helping animals. These wonderful people included the founders from Project K-9 Hero Foundation, Midwest Animal Rescue & Services, Pup N Iron Canine Fitness and Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League.

Senior and Special Needs Pet Tips ♿️

This week, I stopped to pet some on my favorite doggy friends, Stanley and Grace. Stanley is a tiny special needs Chihuahua and Grace is his seven-year-old Chihuahua sibling. When I see them in town, I always talk to there pet dad – he’s happy when I stop to pet his little pals.

Grace and Stanley remind me of Dr. Pet Mom’s mission: To create a pet parent community to encourage adoption of rescue and shelter animals. Adoption includes helping senior and special needs pets find their forever homes.

Happy holidays to all! I’m happy to share a project that has come full circle. And just in time for the holidays! You may recall my Quilting For Rescue Pets blog about my small kennel quilts to fit pet carriers for cats and small dogs.

This year, I sent quilts to several animal rescue groups that save the lives of pets in disaster areas. To celebrate the holidays, I decided to conduct interviews with some of the rescue groups.

I’m sharing another Holiday Heroes Interview about these wonderful animal rescue groups. Staff and volunteers give so much to help homeless animals.

Pets For Life in Pet Service Deserts 🐱 🐶 🐇 🦜

Have you ever heard of a pet service desert? It’s a community where services for pets are not available or affordable. Families in pet service deserts live in low-income areas. But the Humane Society of the US (HSUS) Pets For Life (PFL) program is working to close the gap in pet wellness services.

The month of November feels like the true holiday season has arrived! This month, we celebrate National Senior Pet Month and the ASPCA’s Adopt a Senior Pet Month. Senior pets are as gentle, loving, and loyal as any younger pet.

In celebration of all senior pets, I’m happy to share my interview with Founder and Director, Doreen Jakubcak. Out of love for Marty, a rescue dog who forever changed her life, Doreen created a wonderful and loving home for senior pets called Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary.

The month of November is the middle of the holiday season. It’s a month to honor our military veterans, give thanks, and promote animal awareness events.

Celebrating Adopt A Senior Pet Month in November 🥳

The holiday season is a time of celebration. I’m happy to celebrate Adopt A Senior Pet Month in November to help senior pets find their new families.

“To create a pet parent community to encourage adoption of rescue and shelter animals. We want to help pets find their forever homes.”

My mission statement keeps me focused on helping animals. Many shelter and rescue animals are senior pets all looking for a furrever home.

Volunteering For Pets 🐱 🦜 🐶

In a few weeks, it will be time to change the clocks again. Changing the time reminds me that the holiday season is right around the corner! It’s only October. But if you love shopping, you can find Black Friday and shop -early-for-Christmas sales in the stores this month.

I’m also thinking of other ways to make the holidays meaningful for my animal friends and pet parent community.
