Let’s face it, most cats aren’t very talkative except for the occasional meow. Cats also don’t wear their feelings on their faces. Just because cats don’t say very much with their voices or faces doesn’t mean they aren’t communicating their feelings to their cat moms and dads.

This week, I leaped back into the world of volunteering. I’m working with a local animal rescue group, Bay State Animal Cooperative (BSAC) in the greater Boston area.
Springtime is their busy kitten season. Kittens are in demand right now, and BSAC needs some extra hands to help process adoption applications. I volunteered for a training session on processing adoption applications.

Sometimes the daily work doldrums can get to you. My routine is to add a bit of sunshine to my day by petting dogs. I try to make a daily visit to places where dogs, pet parents and dog walkers hang out.
I also visit dog parks, public areas, parks, and designated dog areas to increase my chances of petting a dog. Any dog will do: big, medium, small, or pint size.

Prevent Animal Cruelty and Keep Pets Safe at Easter π° π₯
April is a good time to celebrate our pet friends. Spring is finally here! If youβve been indoors too long, itβs time to get outside. Enjoy a long walk with your favorite pet and shake off the winter doldrums.

We close out Women’s History Month by recognizing some invisible heroines. This week, we celebrate women pioneers who help animals. Maybe they didn’t set out to change the world, but these women saved the lives of many animals, big and small.
We all know at least one woman who has devoted her life to helping animals. For example, in my community, Bay State Animal Cooperative is a safe, no kill rescue for animals. The non-profit is run by women who work to “reduce animal overpopulation and unnecessary suffering for companion, stray, relinquished and feral animals.”
BSAC has a warm place in my heart. It’s the place I where I found and adopted my furry boy, Oscar. He’s an older cat who makes a fine therapy pet for cats and people.

This week, we continue to celebrate National Womenβs History Month in March. Todayβs heroines are women farmers. Weβve been growing food and farming the land for centuries in America and around the world.
But even today, itβs still hard to know the number of women farmers worldwide. One source explained that most small-scale farmers are women in developing countries. In the agricultural sector, women are 60% to 80% of the farmers in non-industrialized countries.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) estimates that women make up 43% to 70% of the agricultural labor in developing countries.
